| ABOUT INTERNOS |
| MISSION |
| Internos Music Organization brings music into the lives of financially underprivileged children by outfitting them with private music instruction, instruments, and supplies; as well as exposing them to musical events and workshops. Our aim is to provide educational experiences and alternative outlets for children that may otherwise turn to drugs, gangs, or other anti-social, anti-productive acts of behavior. Internos is committed to this purpose and will ensure that every project, event, and contribution will be directly connected with our mission. |
| HISTORY |
|
Jim's life was tragically cut short at age 31, and he not only left behind his beautiful music, but also his compassion and desire to always give to others. His wish was that children would have opportunities not given him and many others like him-to pursue their passion for music. We hold onto his dreams that we wish to continually foster. Internos Music Organization was created to satisfy children's dreams that are similar to those of Jim's, as well as Kim's and Melissa's - all of whom would have benefited from such a program as young children. |

Flea (a.k.a. Michael Balzary), the bassist for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, is the founder of the Silver Lake Conservatory of Music, where some of the children of Internos attend classes. He shares the same goals as the founders of Internos, in his passion to provide as many financially underprivileged children as possible with music lessons. As he forms his nonprofit corporation, The Silver Lake Conservatory of Music and Internos will collaborate on fundraising, music lessons, and bringing music to chronically ill children in Hospitals, and at-risk children in various outreach programs. Russell Steinberg, Ph.D, is an award-winning composer of symphonic and chamber music and strongly committed to music education. Based in Los Angeles, he lectures at UCLA, directs the music program for the Milken Community High School, and conducts the Stephen Wise Youth Orchestra. Russell was James' mentor and teacher. He has dedicated his life to teaching music to both children and young adults. With his experience, Internos Music Organization has strong musical direction and passion. Alain Vasquez is a talented musician who does recording sessions and plays in local LA bands, including Muzik & 40 Dog. Alain provides Internos Music Organization with exposure within the music world. He speaks to his peers about the program and is a continual backing at Internos' fundraising events. On the Internos board, Alain acts as the chief marketing manager and our invaluable Spanish Interpreter. Kathleen Ries, lover of all the arts, has a special interest in this organization because of her love of children and her dedication to giving. She continually gives her time and effort to help with the fundraisers, bookkeeping, and her experience allows her to act as the organization's Budget Advisor and Treasurer. Kathleen also serves as "acting" Secretary during board meetings. |
