ABOUT INTERNOS

MISSION
Internos Music Organization brings music into the lives of financially underprivileged children by outfitting them with private music instruction, instruments, and supplies; as well as exposing them to musical events and workshops. Our aim is to provide educational experiences and alternative outlets for children that may otherwise turn to drugs, gangs, or other anti-social, anti-productive acts of behavior. Internos is committed to this purpose and will ensure that every project, event, and contribution will be directly connected with our mission.
HISTORY

Kim Bajorek and Melissa Blakey founded Internos Music Organization in the loving memory of James Bishop. The name Internos is the name of a piano piece that Jim wrote meaning "between ourselves" in Latin. We felt this was the perfect name for this organization as the love of music is between those within the organization, and the children that it benefits. James was a gifted musician and composer who started his music studies later in life, as the opportunity was not there for him when he first discovered his passion as a very young child.

Jim's life was tragically cut short at age 31, and he not only left behind his beautiful music, but also his compassion and desire to always give to others. His wish was that children would have opportunities not given him and many others like him-to pursue their passion for music. We hold onto his dreams that we wish to continually foster. Internos Music Organization was created to satisfy children's dreams that are similar to those of Jim's, as well as Kim's and Melissa's - all of whom would have benefited from such a program as young children.

CO-FOUNDERS AND DIRECTORS
CO-FOUNDERS

The two founders, Kim Bajorek and Melissa Blakey, share a mutual background in both work history and personal lifetime goals. They worked in the visual effects business in Hollywood, California before starting Internos Music Organization. With Kim's background in producing and marketing, and Melissa's background in producing and running her own visual effects company, their experience has proven invaluable in raising funds, creating public awareness, and creating an easy transition for the start-up of Internos. Kim and Melissa were unable to fulfill their childhood dreams of playing the piano, due to their family's financial struggles. Now, in their adult lives, they study music, including piano, cello and guitar, and they recognize the value of having this opportunity.

Both regard music as critical to early education although both believe the reward of music is of value at any age.

DIRECTORS

Flea (a.k.a. Michael Balzary), the bassist for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, is the founder of the Silver Lake Conservatory of Music, where some of the children of Internos attend classes. He shares the same goals as the founders of Internos, in his passion to provide as many financially underprivileged children as possible with music lessons. As he forms his nonprofit corporation, The Silver Lake Conservatory of Music and Internos will collaborate on fundraising, music lessons, and bringing music to chronically ill children in Hospitals, and at-risk children in various outreach programs.

Russell Steinberg, Ph.D, is an award-winning composer of symphonic and chamber music and strongly committed to music education. Based in Los Angeles, he lectures at UCLA, directs the music program for the Milken Community High School, and conducts the Stephen Wise Youth Orchestra. Russell was James' mentor and teacher. He has dedicated his life to teaching music to both children and young adults. With his experience, Internos Music Organization has strong musical direction and passion.

Alain Vasquez is a talented musician who does recording sessions and plays in local LA bands, including Muzik & 40 Dog.
